WhatsApp new feature: Get call waiting facility on Android phones

Popular instant messaging app WhatsApp has now added call waiting facility to its list of new features, which means that when you already talking to a WhatsApp user you will now get to know whether any other WhatsApp user is also trying to call you at the same time.

Earlier, when somebody would try to call you on WhatsApp while you were already talking, they would hear it ring, but, no one would answer. The call would then get disconnected and you would see a “Missed Call” later on. But now you will get an alert in the middle of the call as well as an option to disconnect the existing call and talk with the next caller. Alternatively, you can also choose to ignore the new caller.

Since Facebook-owned WhatsApp is yet to start call hold facility now, you will need to either disconnect the call or keep talking when you get a new incoming call alert on your phone.

“Added call waiting support so you can choose to accept an incoming WhatsApp call while you’re already on another call,” reads WhatsApp’s latest Android version update.

Call waiting is available in v2.19.352 stable (APK Mirror) and above of WhatsApp, and v2.19.128 (APK Mirror) of WhatsApp Business, Android Police reported. WhatsApp had recently introduced the feature for iPhone users as well.

When you’re already talking on the phone and another person tries to call you, most mobile phone operators let you know that you’ve got a call waiting. Very few Voice over Internet Protocol services support that, though, and WhatsApp wasn’t among them until now.

WhatsApp has added several new features recently in its latest update. Privacy settings allow you to control who can add you to WhatsApp groups while you can also mandate the requirement of a fingerprint to unlock WhatsApp. This will prevent unauthorised access to your personal messages.

In the latest WhatsApp beta update, the instant messaging app has brought three new options for dark mode. The light theme would offer a white background. Dark theme, as the name suggests, would enable dark mode on WhatsApp, according to WABetaInfo, a fan website that tracks WhatsApp updates.
