Want to Update Your Aadhaar Card Address Online? Check Here for Details

The UIDAI has made it possible for Aadhaar cardholders to conveniently change the current address

Have you relocated to a new city and are worried about getting the address on your Aadhaar card updated? Fret not. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made it possible for Aadhaar card holders to conveniently change the current address without having to submit any documents.

An individual can do so by submitting an address validation letter online with the aid of an address validator, who can be any family member or friend or a homeowner. One can only update the address by following a certain criterion like resident’s and the address verifier’s mobile number should be linked to their respective Aadhaar number, the resident and the address verifier must be verified through OTP, and the address verifier must be authorised for use in the address database.

Follow these simple steps to update your new address in the Aadhaar database.

Step 1: Visit the UIDAI website https://uidai/gov.in/ and under the ‘My Aadhaar’ menu select ‘Address Validation letter’ page.

Step 2: You will be redirected to the ‘Request for Address Validation Letter’ where your 12-digit Aadhaar number or 10-digit Virtual ID will be entered. Now enter ‘captcha code’ and then ‘sent OTP’ to authenticate. An OTP will be received on your registered mobile number.

Step 3: Now click on ‘Login’.

Step 4: Enter the Aadhaar number of the address verifier and an SMS with a link to agree to update will be sent on your address verifier’s registered mobile number.

Step 5: On proceeding further, the verifier will receive an OTP. Enter the captcha code and OTP for authentication. Once validated, you will receive a Service Request Number (SRN) through SMS.

Step 6: You need to login using the ‘SRN’ to preview the address and edit (if any) and accept the declaration and submit.

Step 7: The ‘Address Validation Letter’ with the ‘Secret Code’ will be delivered to the verifier’s address through post.

Step 8: Visit the UIDAI website and click on ‘Proceed to Update Address’ using the secret code and submit. Your new Aadhaar letter will be sent to the updated address within 30 working days or you can access it from https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/#/
