The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken an innovative initiative for the development of scientific culture among the students. In order to inculcate scientific culture amongst school children, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has instituted a competition ‘Innovation Award for School Children’.

CBSE Latest News: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken an innovative initiative for the development of scientific culture among the students. In order to inculcate scientific culture amongst school children, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has instituted a competition ‘Innovation Award for School Children’. Interested participants can get all the information related to the competition from the CBSE academic website at cbseacademic.nic.in.

In a letter addressed to all the heads of the CBSE affiliated schools, the CBSE stated that any Indian school going student up to class 12 and below 18 years of age as on January 1, 2021 can participate in the competition.

The aim of the competition is to to build awareness, interest and motivation for intellectual property and to support scientific temperament and innovative spirit.

The students interested to participate must note that the last date for submission of entries is April 30, 2021. The entry should be submitted in hard copy along with the authentication letter from the school to the following address:
Head,
CSIR-Innovation Protection Unit, Vigyan Suchana Bhawan,
14-Satsang Vihar Marg, Special Institutional Area,
New Delhi – 110067.

The interested students must note that 15 awards will be given for novel scientific and technological concept/idea/design/solution to the existing societal problems. The lucrative prize money for the competition are as follows:

First Prize – Rs.1 lakh

Second Prize – Rs.50,000 (two awards)

Third Prize – Rs.30,000 (three awards)

Fourth Prize – Rs.20,000 (four awards)

Fifth Prize – Rs.10,000 (five awards)

The selected meritorious students along with their science teachers will be provided training in IPR by CSIR.
