Delhi Govt Lodges FIR Against IndiGo, SpiceJet & 2 Other Airlines For Not Checking Covid Reports Of Maharashtra Returnees

The Arvind Kejriwal-led government has lodged an FIR against four airlines — Indigo, Vistara, SpiceJet and Air Asia. The complaint has been registered as per the Disaster Management Act (DDMA), 2005.

Amid continuous surge in the number of Coronavirus cases in the national capital, the Delhi Government has taken action against four airlines for flouting COVID norms and not checking RT-PCR negative report of passengers arriving from Maharashtra.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led government has lodged an FIR against four airlines — Indigo, Vistara, SpiceJet and Air Asia. The complaint has been registered as per the Disaster Management Act (DDMA), 2005.

The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government in its complaint alleged that in an order on April 10, it had announced a fresh set of restrictions as per which, it was mandatory for anyone travelling to Delhi from Maharashtra to carry a negative RT-PCR report dated 72 hours prior to arrival. According to the order, the guidelines are to be in effect till April 30.

Meanwhile, news agency ANI has quoted police officials stating that the Delhi police have not registered FIR on the complaint of Delhi govt against 4 airlines. Police are seeking legal opinion on the matter.

The development has come at the time when Delhi continues to face COVID threat in face. The national capital reported 25,462 fresh COVID cases (positivity rate – 29.74%), 20,159 recoveries, and 161 deaths in the last 24 hours. As per the state health bulletin, there are as many as 74,941 Active cases at present while 7,66,398 patients have recovered from the deadly disease.
