A man tweeted saying that he wanted to meet his girlfriend amid the lockdown. Mumbai Police had the best response.

There is no doubt that the coronavirus pandemic has torn us apart. Not only people, who reside in different countries, have been separated but those, who stay in the same city, are as well facing the brunt of the Covid-induced restrictions.

A man from Mumbai, who has also been away from his girlfriend for some time now, owing to the restrictions mandated to check the spread of Covid-19 in the city, wrote an emotional message on social media saying that he wanted to meet her.

Tagging the Mumbai Police on Twitter, the user, identified as Ashwin Vinod wrote, “What sticker should I use in order to go out and meet my girlfriend? I miss her.”

But the Mumbai Police, which is known for its quirky posts, has once again won social media with its compassionate reply to Ashwin’s question.

“We understand it’s essential for you sir but unfortunately it doesn’t fall under our essentials or emergency categories! Distance makes the heart grow fonder and currently, you healthier. P.S. We wish you a lifetime together. This is just a phase,” the Mumbai Police said on Twitter.

The post, which is going viral on the internet, grabbed thousands of likes and retweets within just hours after being shared. Netizens couldn’t stop themselves from praising the post.

“Brilliant Reply! Kudos to Mumbai Police and the excellent sense of humour,” a Twitter user said.

“That’s a wonderful reply @MumbaiPolice. Proud of you all who are trying to keep us safe,” a second user wrote.

On Wednesday, Mumbai recorded 7,684 new coronavirus cases. The city registered a slight dip in daily caseload as the number of fresh cases reported remained below 8,000 for the third consecutive day.
