Haryana: All Schools, Colleges and Educational Institutes, including Anganwadis to remain closed till May 31

In an effort to contain the spread, Haryana government has decided to keep all educational institutes closed till May 31. The order also includes coaching institutes, training institutes as well as anganwadis.

Haryana Government today announced its decision to extend the closure of schools, colleges and other educational institutes in the state. Following a  sharp surge in the number of cases, the government has decided that all educational institutes in the state would remain shut till May 31. The order, earlier was till April 30.

The order, released on Thursday, includes all polytechnics and intitutes as well as coaching institutes. It also includes all industrial training institutes, libraries, government or private training institutes.

Apart from these, the order also includes anganwadi centres, crèches under the Women and Child Development ministry. The decision has been taken with an aim to stem the flow of spread. The government had already announced summer vacations in the state for schools to limit movement of even teachers to school for administrative work.

The state continues to see an alarming rise in the number of COVID cases as well as fatalities. It recorded a total of 13,947 new infections on Thursday and as many as 97 fatalities. Regions close to Delhi NCR – Faridabad and Gurgaon continue to be the worst affected.

In related news, Himachal Pradesh has also ordered all educational institutes to be closed in the state till May 10. The decision was taken after the state recorded a sharp rise in cases. At present, only a few select states are allowing schools and educational institutes to function while many have announced early summer vacations.
