FICCI Kerala in favour of free movement for fully vaccinated domestic tourists

FICCI Kerala has urged the state government to consider giving free access to fully vaccinated domestic tourists in the state. It has urged for free tourist movement in the state for vaccinated tourists after the second COVID-19 wave subsides in the country. India is currently facing a very harsh second wave of the pandemic.

The state of Kerala has tourism as one of its main industries, which has taken a hit ever since the pandemic hit the nation last year. FICCI has also asked for support from the government to help the flailing industry survive. The organisation also brought to fore the heavy losses that state’s tourism industry incurred in the first wave lockdown, and the travel restrictions that followed.

As per Mr UC Riyaz, Chairman Tourism Committee FICCI, more than 50 percent of the 15 lakh jobs in state’s travel industry are already lost owing to the pandemic. The Committee has also urged the government to vaccinate those in the tourism industry on priority as it will help the industry kickstart. Kerala Chief Secretary has also asked for aid in restructuring loans and repayment moratoriums from the Central government.
