‘Political discourse in TN stooped so low’: BJP’s Annamalai slams DMK ally ER Eswaran over ‘Jai Hind’ remarks

On Thursday, MLA ER Eswaran had remarked that Tamil Nadu has become proud by avoiding ‘Jai Hind’ in the Governor’s address to the state Assembly.

Chennai: K Annamalai, Vice President of the BJP Tamil Nadu has slammed MLA ER Eswaran, who is an ally of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK) over his speech delivered in the state Assembly.

Taking to Twitter, the BJP leader said that the political discourse has stopped so low in Tamil Nadu that a politician is feeling elated in the assembly that ‘Jai Hind’ is not used after Governor’s address.

“The level to which our political discourse in Tamil Nadu has stooped down & the present atmosphere of ‘you scratch my back & I scratch yours’. A politician feeling happy in the assembly that ‘Jai Hind’ is not used after Governors address (sic)!” Annamalai tweeted.

Eswaran, who runs a caste outfit in the Kongu region, had on Thursday remarked that Tamil Nadu has become proud by avoiding ‘Jai Hind’ in the Governor’s address to the state Assembly. He had also thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin for refraining from using the words “Jai Hind,” which the previous AIDMK government used.

Meanwhile, Political commentator Sumanth Raman also took a dig at ‘Periyarist’ who are uncomfortable with ‘Jai Hind.’ He also questioned if MK Stalin endorses his comments.

“What is their problem with saying Jai Hind now? If he has a problem with Jai Hind shouldn’t he resign as an MLA? After all he serves under the same Constitution. Does @mkstalin endorse this (sic)?” he tweeted.

“Idiotic to say that speaking in favour of Jai Hind is being a Sanghi. Since when did BJP get to own Jai Hind? If anything, some of their predecessors often supported the British, ironically, much like the Periyarists who are uncomfortable with Jai Hind now,” Raman added.
