Punjab: Farm machine subsidy misused, FIR filed in Bathinda

BATHINDA: Misappropriating the subsidy being provided to farmers and custom hiring centres (CHC) to purchase crop residue management (CRM) machinery has come to light. The Bathinda police have identified a group allegedly misusing the subsidy in the name of CRM machinery like happy seeder, super seeder.


According to initial investigations made by the police, the group members used to prepare forged documents to get subsidy for CRM machinery in league with machine preparing firms and used to get Rs 2 lakh out of the subsidy amount and rest of the amount was used by agriculture firms in selling machinery to beneficiaries.


A case under sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 IPC (using as genuine a forged document) have been registered at Bathinda Sadar police station against six, including agriculture machinery preparing firms.


Those who have been booked have been identified as Balkaran Singh and Raja Singh of Karmgarh Shatra village in Bathinda, Manpreet Singh of Giljewala village in Muktsar, Raja Agriculture of Talwandi Bhai in Ferozepur, Jagjit Agriculture of Nabha oin Patiala and a unkinown person.
