Haryana School Reopening: Govt rolls back decision to reopen schools with 100% capacity amid Omicron fear

Haryana Schools Reopening: As per the latest updates, the state government has decided not to reopen schools from today with 100% capacity. Haryana Schools will now continue to operate at 50% capacity, like before. There will be no change in it till any further announcement is made. The Education Department was expected to convey this change to all the schools so that all plans for reopening with 100% capacity can be halted.

Decision To Continue Schools with 50% Capacity

The decision to allow reopening at full capacity has been withdrawn as the state also joins the list of names battling with the fear of Omicron, a new variant of COVID-19. As per some reports, the decision has been put on hold only till 10th December 2021, while others are not considering any such date.

In such a case, students and schools are advised to only wait for an official confirmation from the state government or Education Department and meanwhile continue with offline classes at 50% capacity. Even though till now, no cases have been reported in the country, states are adopting safety measures.

Haryana Schools Reopening Updates

Haryana School reopening announcement was made by Education Minister Kanwar Pal through his official Twitter handle. The tweet read, “From December 1, all the government and private #schools of Haryana will open with full capacity. The compliance of the Covid protocol will continue as before. If any problem related to Covid arises again in future, then the government will take an immediate decision in this regard.”

Haryana Schools Reopened in Phased Manner

Schools of Haryana were among the few in the country that started reopening long back in a phased manner. Initially, the schools reopened for classes 9th to 12th. After this, they reopened for classes 1st to 3rd from 20th September 2021. Over a month ago, schools in Haryana were reopened for Classes 9 to 12. Later, students of Classes 6 to 8 were allowed to attend school. However, it was not made mandatory for students to come to school as online classes are also continuing. According to reports, only about 45% attendance was recorded when schools started for the latter group of students.
