How to apply for minor passports in India

As per the new rules prepared by the government of India, children should have their own passports. The endorsement of the name of the minor’s father is no longer acceptable. To apply for a passport in India, citizens under the age of 18 are considered minors. The application for the passport is made through parents and guardians. Legal guardians or parents must get consent to grant minors passports.

PASSPORT VALIDITY

The minor’s passport is valid for five years till the time he reaches the age of eighteen, whichever arrives earlier.

Minors who are between the age of 15 and 18 can apply for a 10-year passport which is valid till they reach the age limit of 18.

It’s important to remember that the amount varies on the category the child focuses on changes, with the fee for a 10-year passport greater than the fee for a passport valid until the minor is 18.

And a 10-year-old passport is provided through police verification.

  • Minors aged between 15 and 18 who wish to obtain a passport of 10 years
  • Parents separated but not legally divorced
  • Minors from Jammu and Kashmir
  • Parents resident abroad
  • Minors from Nagaland
  • Parents divorced
  • Minor children of government/PSU/statutory body employees
  • Parent(s) holding valid passport and spouse name endorsed
  • A passport is applied by one parent when another parent does not give consent
  • Passport applied by a legal guardian
  • Single parents
  • Adopted Children
  • Parents separated but not legally divorced
  • Passports are applied by a guardian when one or both parents do not give consent
  • Students stay away from their parents and do not give consent
  • Students staying away from their parent’s current residence
  • Children born through surrogacy

PAYMENT MODES

  1. The payment portal used is the SBI payment portal.
  2. If the Tatkal request is to be made, then regular fees need to be paid where the remaining amount must be paid in cash at the Passport Seva Kendra.
  3. For making payments, the applicants can click on view saved/ submitted applications. By choosing pay and scheduling appointments.
  4. The payment proceeds through credit cards, debit cards, internet banking, SBI bank challan and SBI wallet payment.

STEPS TO APPLY FOR A MINOR PASSPORT ONLINE IN INDIA

Step 1: Visit the passport Seva website and register as a minor.

Step 2: Create a login ID and provide a password

Step 3: Fill out the application form.

Step 4: Once the application is submitted, the payment can be made.
