How to update Aadhaar card photo: Step-by-step guide

The Aadhaar Card is one of the most important identity proof documents for citizens of India. The 12-digit individual identification number is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India on behalf of the government of India. It contains demographic and biometric data of the cardholder and is essential for availing government benefits, filling forms for schools or colleges, and other official work.

While all the Unique Identification numbers in Aadhaar remain the same throughout life, there are often changes which need to be updated in the card. People sometimes need to update their home address, phone number, and even photo with time.

So for the citizens who want to change any information on their Aadhaar card, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) allows them to edit them by visiting the official site of UIDAI. If you are someone who wants to update Aadhaar photo with the latest picture, then you can visit the Aadhaar Enrolment center/Aadhaar Sewa Kendra to get this done. People can also make changes online, but they will have to visit the nearest centre too.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how you can update your photograph on your Aadhaar card.

How to update photo in Aadhaar card

– Step 1: Visit the official UIDAI website – uidai.gov.in.

– Step 2: Search and download the Aadhaar enrollment form from the website.

– Step 3: Fill in all the details in the form and submit it to the nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Centre or Aadhaar Sewa Kendra.

– Step 4: The Aadhaar executive present will confirm all the details via biometric verification.

– Step 5: Next, the executive will click the new picture which will be updated in your Aadhaar card – Unique Identification number.

– Step 6: You will be charged a fee of Rs 100 with GST for the service.

– Step 7: Aadhaar executive will give you an acknowledgement slip and an Update Request Number (URN).

Note: You can track the status of your latest Aadhaar card using the URN number on UIDAI’s official website.

Additionally, the Aadhaar photo update process can take up to 90 days. After the process is complete, you can print your updated Aadhaar card by visiting the Aadhaar Enrollment Centre or downloading a copy of the E-Aadhaar from UIDAI’s official website.
