Chhattisgarh: Horticulture farmers to get interest free loan up to Rs 3 lakh

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced a farmer loan of up to Rs 3 lakh at a zero per cent interest rate on horticulture crops such as maize, groundnuts etc. 

In order to promote advanced cultivation of horticulture, the Chhattisgarh government is also offering technical guidance and grants on equipment like irrigation for advanced farming.

India Today reached out to agricultural experts who believe that the cultivation of horticulture crops is threefold more beneficial than traditional farming. According to them, this scheme will not only promote horticulture farming in Chhattisgarh but across the country. It will set an example for others to follow.

Government to Farmers: Grant-in-aid for protected farming

  • To construct a greenhouse, fan and pad system, an area of 4000 sq meters per beneficiary and 50 per cent of the total cost is given as grant-in-aid. 
  • To construct a Natural Ventilation System, Tubular Structure Shade Net House, and a Poly House, the govt. is providing an area of 4000 square meters per beneficiary by bearing 50 per cent of the total expenses. 
  • Constant guidance via Kisan Call Center – 1800-180-1511 is operated in the department.

Chhattisgarh mainly produces tomatoes and green chilies in large quantities. The area under horticulture crops in Chhattisgarh is 834.311 hectares and the production is 11236.447 metric tonnes.
