New Delhi: After remaining steady on Republic Day- January 26, 2023, gold prices dipped in the red on Friday. The yellow metal traded lower in the Indian market on January 27 even as global prices remained largely changed. Gold futures, maturing on February 3, fell over 300 points or 0.53 per cent to Rs 57,158 per 10 grams at 10:28 am. It closed at Rs 57,465 per 10 grams in the previous session.
The yellow metal had breached the Rs 57,000 per 10 grams mark on Tuesday.
Silver futures, on the other hand, were in the green, up 0.13 per cent of 89 points at Rs 68,765 per 1 kg. The metal settled at Rs 68,676 per kg in the previous session. Notably, the prices of gold and silver stood at Rs 56,969 per 10 grams and Rs 68,542 per kg respectively when the market closed on January 25.

The price of the yellow metal has been rising domestically and internationally due to its safe haven appeal amid economic uncertainties and recession fears. Experts are of the view that a weak rupee and high local demand contribute to the rising pressure on gold prices.

Gold, silver in international markets
Gold prices were little changed on Friday as traders awaited US inflation data, due later in the day, to gauge the Federal Reserve’s stance on further interest rate hikes. Spot gold was flat at $1,927.99 per ounce as of 0234 GMT, while US gold futures were off 0.1 per cent at $1,928.30. Spot silver fell 0.2 per cent to $23.86 per ounce.
