Redmi A2 And Redmi A2 Plus Debuts Silently | Specifications Inside

CHINESE smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has announced the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ on its global website. While no word on an India launch is live from official circles, the smartphones are successors to the existing Redmi A1 series that sell in the country and globally.

No information on the pricing is official at the time of composing this article. Further, here are the specifications of both the budget handsets listed on the Mi global website.

Redmi A2 Specifications

Redmi A2 comes with a 6.52 inch HD+ display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The screen has a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. The handset weighs 192g and is 9.09mm thick.

Under the hood, it comes with a MediaTek Helio G36 with up to 2.2 GHz clock speed. The phone comes with 2GB/3GB LPDDR4X RAM and 32 GB eMMC 5.1 storage variants. Memory extension feature on the phone can add an extra 2GB of RAM for multitasking. Plus, the storage is further expandable up to 1TB.

The phone runs on Android 12 (GO Edition) software. Redmi has promised two years of security updates with the handset. Coming to the battery, it comes with a 5000mAh battery pack with a 10W charger in the box.

Speaking of optics, it has an 8MP f/2.0 primary camera and 5MP front shooter in the notch. The phone can record up to 1080p videos at 30fps. Features in the camera UI include Portrait mode, HDR mode, short videos, time-lapse photography and more.

For connectivity, A2 comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 4G access, microSD support and a Micro USB port for data transfer and charging. The phone comes in three colour options – Light Blue, Light Green and Black.

Redmi A2+ Specifications

A2 Plus has the same display, processor, software, battery and camera specs as the Redmi A2. The A2+ has a fingerprint sensor on the rear for security that the Redmi A2 lacks.

Information is scant on a possible India launch of the handsets. We will keep you posted if any update comes in the future.
