Delhi Coronavirus Latest News Today: Amid rising coronavirus cases in the national capital, the Delhi government on Thursday issued a new advisory saying people with flu-like symptoms and those visiting hospitals should wear masks. The advisory comes after a COVID review meeting was held in the city with the health officials earlier in the day. The Delhi government however, urged all ‘not to panic’ under the current circumstances.

“Positivity rate (of the Covid-19 cases) is higher than 10 per cent, but the number of tests is low. There is no need to panic. People with flu-like symptoms and those visiting hospitals should wear masks,” Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said.

  • The positivity rate has been recorded at 10% but there is no need to panic and must take precautions.
  • A mock drill for Covid preparedness will be done and the results will be given to CM Arvind Kejriwal.
  • The Delhi government has intensified testing on genome testing and there is no need to admit patients to the hospital.
  • COVID testing will be increased as per need and 2,200 tests have been done yesterday.

Delhi Govt Monitoring COVID Situation

The Delhi government said it is closely monitoring the coronavirus situation and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will hold a review meeting on the matter on Friday again, Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said.

Bharadwaj further assured people that there was no need to panic since the hospitalisation rate was low. He said this after holding a meeting on Thursday to review the COVID-19 situation in the national capital amid a spurt in cases.

Face Mask Must For Symptomatic People

“We reviewed the situation. We have asked hospitals to advise coronavirus tests to those who are symptomatic. People visiting hospitals should wear masks,” he said in the COVID advisroy.

He further added that the Delhi government has conducted a mock drill on Covid preparedness and its results will be shown to the Chief Minister soon.

Bharadwaj further added that the genome sequencing of samples is also being carried out and nothing worrisome has been found till now.

Corona Cases in Delhi

The corona cases in the national capital have climbed to 300 for the first time since August 31 last year, while the positivity rate rose to 13.89 per cent.

The data shared by the city health department said two Covid-related deaths were also reported on Wednesday.

It should be noted that the national capital had reported 377 cases on August 31 last along with two fatalities, while the positivity rate was 2.58 per cent.

For the past few days, the city has been witnessing an increase in the number of daily Covid cases amid a sharp rise in H3N2 influenza cases in the country.
