SBI YONO app for UPI: The State Bank of India (SBI) has introduced a new feature that allows even non-SBI customers to use its YONO app for United Payments Interface (UPI) payments. Check this step-by-step guide, first published by the Economic Times, for the process of using SBI YONO for UPI payments as a non-SBI account holder.
Step 1: Download the SBI YONO App from Google Play Store and the iPhone App Store.
Step 2: Launch the app and select “New to SBI”.
Step 3: Choose “Register Now” to proceed with the registration process.
Step 4: Register for UPI Payments on the next page. Your phone number must be linked to your bank account for this feature to work.
Step 5: Verify your phone number by selecting the SIM card that is registered with your bank.
Step 6: Select your bank to create a UPI ID.

Step 7: You will receive a message confirming that your registration for SBI Pay has begun.
Step 8: SBI will provide you with three UPI ID options, from which you can select one. After selecting a UPI ID, you will receive a message stating, “You have successfully created an SBI UPI handle.”
Step 9: To log in and begin making payments, you need to set a six-digit permanent MPIN. Read the instructions carefully and set your MPIN accordingly.
After this, you can start using the YONO SBI app for making UPI payments.
Using the UPI YONO App, you can scan any QR code and make payments through UPI. Additionally, you can send money to your contacts, transfer funds between accounts, send money using UPI IDs or phone numbers, and request money from others. The app also allows you to check your balance and review your transaction history by clicking on the transaction history option.
