Summer holidays preponed in Chhattisgarh due to heatwave

As peak summer draws closer, heatwave warnings have been cropping up in several states in India. With temperatures soaring past 40 degrees Celsius in the state, on Wednesday, the Chhattisgarh government decided to close schools for summer vacations from April 24 to June 14. The new academic session in Chhattisgarh schools will begin on June 15.

The summer holidays have been pushed forward in the state because of rising temperatures. The new summer holiday period applies to not just government schools in the state but private schools as well.

The state government noted that students who had semester exams scheduled for April 25 could voluntarily attend the exams on the dates scheduled even though schools would remain closed.
