11,000 EVs in Goa to receive subsidies every year for 5 years

According to the draft scheme, the state government will provide subsidies to 10,000 electric two wheelers, not exceeding ₹10 crore per year.

As cliched as it may sound at this point, but boy has the EV revolution started in India and how! While we do have a national EV policy (FAME II, anyone?), state after state has introduced their individual EV policies as part of an endeavour to further encourage the  adoption of electric vehicles in their regions. The latest such effort comes from the state of Goa, which recently announced that it will offer subsidies to 11,000 electric vehicles every year for the next five years. According to an ETAuto report, the state government’s decision is a part of its endeavour to cut down Goa’s carbon footprint. Oh, and the amount of total subsidies offered annually will be capped at ₹25 crore.

According to the draft scheme, the state government will provide subsidies to 10,000 electric two wheelers, not exceeding ₹10 crore per year, to 500 electric three-wheelers, not exceeding ₹1crore, and to about 500 electric cars, not exceeding ₹14 crore.

How to avail EV subsidy in Goa

The report notes that EV buyers in the state will receive subsidy on a first come first serve basis. So, as long as the required quotas for the year haven’t been fulfilled, one will be able to receive a subsidy for their new EV in Goa.

As for the subsidy disbursement, officials said it will be disbursed in one go on purchase of the electric vehicle and provision of required documents, of course. People hoping to avail these subsidies will need to provide the RC book and insurance.
