A circular has been released by the Tamil Nadu State Education Department, which states that the government has declared the students of Classes 1 to 8 all pass, without the conduction of final exams this year in view of the pandemic situation in the state.

Earlier this year, the government of Tamil Nadu had also announced that the students of Classes 9, 10, and 11 will be promoted to their higher standard without the conduction of final exams due to the lockdown and closure of schools caused by the pandemic.

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami said, “They have been promoted after taking into consideration the unprecedented circumstances, the request from parents, and the opinions of the educationists.”

Tamil Nadu schools reopening

In the circular issued by the state education department, it has also been mentioned that the schools in Tamil Nadu will only be reopened once the lockdown has been lifted and the Covid-19 situation in the state is improved significantly.
