Andhra Pradesh: This 16-year-old NRI provides assistance in Covid-19 relief activities

AMARAVATI: A 16-year-old NRI, Nihaar Charagulla, has become an unsung hero in Andhra Pradesh as he has been on the mission mode to extend assistance to the Covid-19 victims and relief activities.

Nihaar has pooled up funds from his friends and associates of his parents in the United States to provide relief material and ambulances in AP.

The young Nihaar, who settled in San Jose of San Francisco in the United States along with his techie parents, has been actively taking part in charity activities since his childhood.

A service vehicle purchased to take the Covid-19 patients to hospitals and back home was flagged off at Don Bosco high school in Yerrabalem village of Mangalagiri on Sunday.

Madiga Corporation chairman Kommuru Kanaka Rao, Don Bosco alumni association president Rev G Kishore Raju, Rev Marreddy, Rev PK Joshi lauded the young Nihaar’s support in purchasing the service vehicle. They have also donated PPE kits to the nurses and paramedical staff working in different hospitals.

Oxygen concentrators have also been donated to Asha Jyothi physically challenged institute of Krishna district.

“Nihaar pooled over 15,000 USD in the last few weeks and continuously extended support to the service activities in different places in AP. He is an inspiration for many young children to take up similar activities,” said father Suresh.

“Empower and Excel, a US-based NGO, is coordinating the service activities of Nihaar in AP,” said K Kalyan Krishna Kumar, NGO’s India chapter head.

Nihaar’s father Sanjoy is vice-president at a reputed software firm in the US and mother Ayesha is a social activist.
While Sanjoy hails from Chirala in Prakasam district, his wife Ayesha is native of Thotlavalluru in Krishna district. Grand-parents of Nihaar are residing in Vijayawada city.

Nihaar has been providing training in coding to the economically backward students in the US and also takes awareness classes to the elderly people in handling laptops and mobile apps. He is also involved in community gardening activities.

Nihaar is also taking classes in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) and making monies.
Interestingly, he is spending entire monies earned through his activities to the charity of the poor.

He decided to spend a good amount on Covid relief in AP upon learning about the severity of the virus outbreak and suffering of the patients through his grandparents.
