Gujarat: Night curfew restrictions to continue in 8 Municipal Corporations [Details]

The night curfew in 18 cities has been reduced by 1 hour from 10 pm to 8 am.

Ahmedabad: Despite new cases of coronavirus infections dropping in the state, the Gujarat administration has decided to extend night curfew restrictions in all eight Municipal Corporations.

“Restrictions including night curfew will continue in eight Municipal Corporations of the state and a total of 18 cities including Vapi, Ankleshwar, Mehsana, and Gandhinagar. The night curfew in these 18 cities has been reduced by 1 hour from 10 pm to 8 am,” the Chief Minister’s Office said in an official statement on Thursday.

Restrictions and relaxations as per the new order:

  1. Night curfew relaxed in 18 small towns of Gujarat
  2. Night curfew to be in place in the big cities of Gujarat from 10 pm to 6 am
  3. Multiplexes, cinema halls, auditoriums can open with 50 percent capacity
  4. Libraries can reopen with 60 percent capacity
  5. Gardens and parks can remain open till 9 pm
  6. Maximum 200 people can attend state, social, religious programmes
  7. Maximum of 100 people can attend wedding ceremonies
  8. Vaccination mandatory for employed citizens associated with offices and other business

The state reported 138 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the state’s caseload to 8,22,758, while three more casualties took the death toll to 10,040.

Of the fresh casualties, Ahmedabad, Surat and Jamnagar recorded one death each, the state health department said.

Gujarat now has over 4,800 active cases, while the state’s recovery rate stands at 98.20 per cent.
