Nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar unfolds 3 facts about weight loss

Due to the ongoing pandemic and the extra weight we all have gained, weight loss is on everyone’s mind. While eating healthy and exercising are two key components to shed extra kilos, some simple tricks and tips can boost your journey.
Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar recently posted on her social media 3 facts about body weight that surely can help you lose weight.

Through the video, Rujuta conveys to her followers how body weight is often mistaken as a measure of fitness levels and the concentration of body fat they hold. Here are the three important facts she revealed about body weight.
It’s not an indicator of fatness or fitness

Bodyweight is often used as an indicator of one’s fitness progress and many people confuse it as an indicator of their fat or overall fitness levels. Rujuta says you must not get discouraged if you do not see the scale coming down as the change in body composition is not purely dependent on body weight.

Bodyweight is composed of the weight of your muscles, fat, bone and water content in the body. Thus, what you see on the weighing scale is not an accurate picture of your fitness levels or obesity.

Your weight fluctuates with the time of the day and age

It’s completely normal for body weight to fluctuate by a few grams to even kilograms within a day. This fluctuation is caused by the shift in water content in your body and the amount of fluid you consume from morning tonight. Other factors that influence this shift include sweating, respiration, urination, eating timings and bowel movements. Thus, in the morning your body weight will be a little lower than what it is at night time.

You can stay fit and healthy at any bodyweight

The nutritionist emphasises the fact that one can be fit and healthy, regardless of their body weight. The thing to remember is that your overall health should be in the green zone. Your bodily movement should be functional and your energy levels should be adequate to sail through the day. A healthy and balanced diet along with a regular workout can help one stay healthy and fit, without worrying about body weight.

While some fluctuation in the body weight is normal, in case you notice a steep gain or loss, then you must consult the doctor
