Ishwari Kumar Sinha, a government school teacher, in Balod has been providing technology-enabled education to underprivileged students since 2011.

Not all heroes wear capes. In a similar case, a school teacher in Balod, Ishwari Kumar Sinha, has been trying to bring a positive change in the lives of underprivileged students by providing them with a technology-enabled education for the last 13 years. Sinha is a government school teacher in Balod who started this endeavor in 2011 when he bought a small sound system to equip children with technology.

“There were 300 students in the school when I was posted here in 2008. The government funds were utilised for the fundamental needs of the school. So to acquaint these kids with technology, I bought a small sound system in 2011,” he said, as reported by ANI.

When asked about how he came up with this idea, Sinha simply said that he also belonged to a village in Rajim where they were deprived of any of these facilities. Therefore, he wanted to make a change for these students. Since 2011, Sinha has spent around Rs. 8 lakhs on these services. Other school teachers and the Panchayat also support him on his journey to bring a change.

Balod District Collector Janmejay Mahobe praised Sinha for his devotion to education. “Ishwari Kumar Sinha has been doing good work in the field of education. He takes a personal interest in his students. He understands technology and educates the students with the help of the same. His devotion to education is an example for other teachers here,” he said, as reported by ANI.

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Sinha has been teaching children at home for a year now, as the schools in the state are still closed.
