Assam Schools, Colleges to reopen from September first week – details here

Assam Schools, Colleges reopening decision has been taken by the State Government. As per the CM’s Tweet, Class 12, final year UG and PG students would be able to attend offline classes from September 1st week.

Assam Schools, Colleges would reopen in September first week. Assam State Government has decided to resume offline classes for Class 12, final year UG and PG students. However, the date of resumption of schools and colleges is yet to be announced. The government would issue the detailed COVID 19 guidelines on or before August 31, 2021.

Assam School, College Reopening decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by the chief minister on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Soon after the meeting, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the cabinet’s decision on social media along with several other key initiatives.

Assam and several other states in India have decided to reopen colleges and schools phase-wise from September 1, 2021. In Assam, final year UG and PG students will have to produce at least a first dose vaccination certificate to attend offline classes. To stay in the hostel, the certificate of both doses is compulsory.

Vaccination camps would be held at the offices of Block Elementary Education Officer, District Elementary Education Officer, Inspector of Schools and all university campuses from August 27, 2021 to September 5, 2021. Teachers, non-teaching staff and students above 18 years of age must register themselves for the vaccination camp. SOP regarding the reopening of Assam Schools, Colleges would be announced on or before August 31, 2021.

Assam Chief Minister informed that the state government is planning to resume offline classes phase-wise. However, the decision would be based entirely on the positivity rate of the district and region. The schools and colleges will reopen with 50% capacity, and both teaching and non-teaching staff should have received at least the first dose of vaccination. In order to attend offline classes, students must submit a consent letter signed by their parents. In the last 24 hours, Assam reported 689 news COVID cases and seven deaths.
