Fiji welcomes vaxxed foreign travellers amid Omicron scare

While world tourism is again struggling to put a cap on the rising number of the new Omicron variant, Fiji has opened its borders for fully vaxxed foreign travellers. Fiji is one of the most famous beach destinations in the world and is visited by travellers from all over the world. The country had closed all its international borders after COVID-19 was declared a pandemic. But on Wednesday, Fiji welcomed fully vaccinated tourists from “Travel Partner countries”, allowing them a quarantine-free holiday.

Tourism Fiji took to Twitter and said:

“#FijisOpen”. “Today was a welcome like no other. We welcomed visitors on the first flight with @FijiAirways, full of friends, families & loved ones who are the first of many making the most of q’tine free travel, our sunshine, smiles & welcoming Bula Spirit. #OpenForHappiness.”

Requirements to enter Fiji

1) Those vaccinated with AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson vaccines are allowed to enter the country.

2) Travellers 12 years of age and older must carry their negative COVID-19 PCR test taken not older than three days.

3) Travellers must also book a minimum three-night stay at a Care Fiji Commitment-certified property. After 48 hours, a rapid COVID-19 test will be taken. The tourists will also need a proof of insurance that covers COVID-19.

4) During the first 48 hours, travelers are allowed to explore, but are asked to use Care Fiji Commitment operators and tourism experiences and check in using QR codes. Travelers can arrive with unvaccinated children.

As of now, Fiji has vaccinated 90 percent of its adult population.
