High Alert in Delhi After Unattended Bag Found in Ghazipur Flower Market, Bomb Disposal Squad at Site

New Delhi: Ahead of Republic day, an improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered from Ghazipur Flower Market in East Delhi on Friday, triggering panic among the people. A Fire Department Official informed that a call was received around 10.20 AM regarding an unattended bag lying at the Ghazipur flower market in the city after which they swung into action.

Later, the National Security Guard (NSG), and a team of the bomb squad defused the IED, taking it to an abandoned area. The Delhi police special cell has also registered a case under provisions of the Explosives Act.

  • The weight of recovered IED recovered from Ghazipur was approximately 3 kg. The explosive was defused around 1.30 pm,said NSG.
  • Heavy police presence could be seen in and around the area. The police have cordoned off the entire area for the safety and security of the people.
