KL Rahul Not Ready to Lead The Team, Ex-Pakistan Star Danish Kaneria Makes Huge Statement

India vs South Africa: Kaneria reckons Rahul, who is in charge of the side as newly-appointed captain Rohit Sharma pulled out of the tour, is not ready to lead the side.

Cape Town: Ahead of the third and final ODI versus South Africa at Cape Town, ex-Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria made a massive statement on India’s interim ODI captain, KL Rahul. Following the back-to-back losses against South Africa, Kaneria reckons Rahul, who is in charge of the side as newly-appointed captain Rohit Sharma pulled out of the tour, is not ready to lead the side.

Kaneria said in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel said, “There’s no intensity in KL Rahul’s captaincy. The team isn’t showing the same intensity. It’s early times for KL Rahul but Rohit Sharma should come back as captain. KL Rahul is not ready to lead the team.”

While Rahul looks to avoid the embarrassing whitewash, Rohit is in all probability going to join the side soon. He would be back as full-time white-ball captain in the upcoming home series against Windies. Rohit was certainly missed in the first two ODIs and the Test series as well.

The three ODIs against Windies would now be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad and three T20Is will be held at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Meanwhile, the Indian side could make plenty of changes in the playing XI for the final ODI. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Mohammed Siraj could be on the side. Eyes would also be on Virat Kohli after he registered a duck in the second ODI.
