Indonesia changes quarantine norms for certain travellers

Travelling to Indonesia is all set to get easier. As per the latest developments, international travellers who have already received their COVID-19 booster shots, will now be permitted to visit this country with a three-day quarantine period. This was recently informed by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

While addressing a virtual press conference, Pandjaitan added that starting from next week, the quarantine period for incoming travellers, both Indonesian citizens and foreigners, who have already received COVID booster shots, will now be reduced to just three days.

Reports further added that those incoming travellers who have been vaccinated with two shots, will however, have to undergo quarantine for five days. Plus, the visitors will be required to carry out entry and exit polymerase chain reaction swab tests, and will be allowed to leave the quarantine centre if their test result comes negative.

As of now, the Southeast Asian country is grappling with the third wave of COVID-19 that has been triggered by the new and more contagious variant of COVID, Omicron. To tackle the crisis situation, the authorities have also limited the capacity of working from the office to a maximum of 50 per cent for, and allowing the rest work from their homes.
