Delhi-Katra Expressway to cut travel time between Delhi-Vaishno Devi by 5 hours

Synopsis

This will become possible as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) took the initiative to construct Delhi-Amritsar-Katra corridor in a bid to improve connectivity between the two locations.

The distance between Delhi and Katra will now be reduced to 588 km, and the travel time will also be reduced by 5 hours. This will become possible as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) took the initiative to construct Delhi-Amritsar-Katra corridor in a bid to improve connectivity between the two locations.

As per the reports, a 670-km greenfield expressway project will be connecting Bahadurgarh border in Delhi with Katra via Nakodar and Gurdaspur in Punjab.

Reportedly, it takes pilgrims around 12 hours to reach Katra from Delhi, and the same will be reduced by 40 km through the said corridor, thereby reducing the distance between the destinations and saving five hours of travel.

In addition to this, travellers will also be able to reach Amritsar from Delhi in less than 5 hours.

The Katra-Delhi Express Road will cover some major holy towns and cities. Apart from Vaishno Devi, and Amritsar, other important cities that will be falling along the route are Jalandhar, Kathua, Kapurthala and Ludhiana.

In another update, amid reports of people falling prey to fake websites while booking their journey to the Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu and Kashmir, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has advised pilgrims to book their details only on the official website h ttp://maavaishnodevi.org or shrine board’s mobile application.
