New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh chief minister-designate Yogi Adityanath met BJP national president J P Nadda at his residence Wednesday for a last-minute discussion on government formation in the state.

The BJP is formally going to elect its leader in a legislature party meeting to be held today. The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected government will take place on March 25 at Lucknow’s Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ikana stadium.

According to news agency ANI, around 85 thousand people are expected to attend the grand event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Ministers of BJP ruled states and BJP senior leadership will be a part of the oath-taking ceremony tomorrow.

While the BJP leadership is certain about the top post, there is suspense over the name of deputy chief minister after Keshav Prasad Maurya’s defeat in the assembly elections. Maurya was defeated from Sirathu by Pallavi Patel, who was contesting on a Samajwadi Party ticket.

In the seven-phase assembly elections the BJP had emerged victorious with a thumping majority. The party won 255 of the 403 constituencies, securing a vote share of 41.29 percent.

Adityanath will be the first Chief Minister in the last 37 years to hold the position for the second consecutive term in the state.
