Consisting of a 12-digit number, the card was launched with the aim to have a single unique identification number or document that incorporates every necessary detail of an Indian resident. How to fix Aadhaar-PAN name mismatch or spelling error

The government of India recently made it mandatory to link the PAN Card with Aadhaar Card for filing tax returns. The name mismatch in both ID proofs can cause a problem. Here’s how to fix this.

Step 1: Go to the Aadhaar self-service update portal.

Step 2: Login using your registered mobile number and OTP generated.

Step 3: Click on Update Aadhaar online.

Step 4: Select the ‘Edit name’ option from the list and type the correct spelling.

Step 5: Click on the submit button. A sum of Rs 50 has to be paid which is non-refundable. You will receive a service request number which you can use to track the request.

How to fix or change the address on Aadhaar card

In case your address is wrong or you’ve recently relocated, here’s what you need to do to update the address.

Step 1: Go to the Aadhaar self-service update portal.

Step 2: Login using your registered mobile number and OTP generated.

Step 3: Click on Update Aadhaar online.

Step 4: Select the ‘address’ option from the list and type the correct address.

Step 5: Click on submit option. Pay the Rs 50 charge. You will receive a service request number which you can use to track the request.

Notably, the process is similar for changes in age, gender, date of birth, and the language in your Aadhaar card.

Which Aadhaar information can’t be changed online?

While most of the details in your Aadhaar card can be easily updated online, there are some details that can only be changed or updated by visiting an Aadhaar enrolment centre in your neighbourhood. These are your mobile number, your email ID, and your biometrics data. You can also visit certain banks for the same.
