How many times can you change address, name and date of birth on Aadhaar Card

Aadhaar is one of the most important documents that is required for any services provided by the Central and State government or any financial services. The information in the Aadhaar should always be updated with the name, address, date of birth, and the other required things on the card. As per the guidelines of the Unique Identification Authority of India(UIDAI), the user needs to update it only twice.UIDAI provides a 12 digit unique identification number which is a statutory body established by the Government of India.

NUMBER OF TIMES AADHAAR DETAILS CAN BE CHANGED

NAME

  • The name of the user can be changed twice.

DATE OF BIRTH

  • The date of birth can never be changed in Aadhaar.
  • It is only possible if there is the possibility of an error occurring during the data entry.

ADDRESS AND GENDER CHANGE

  • This is a one-time change that can be made to the address and gender field.

HOW TO MAKE CHANGES BEYOND LIMIT

  • Changes beyond a certain limit are possible for the up-gradation of name, gender, or date of birth on the Aadhaar card by visiting the UIDAI regional office.

STEPS TO EXCEPTION HANDLING PROCESS

Step 1: The user needs to visit the Aadhaar enrolment center to update their name, date of birth, or gender.

Step 2: Exceeding the number of times for updating the Aadhaar details, then a request needs to be raised at the enrolment center via email post or regional office of the UIDAI.

Step 3: The individual needs to provide the reason for such a request for changes with an attached copy of the URN slip, Aadhaar detail, and relevant proof.

Step 4: Email has to be dropped at [email protected]

Step 5: A person need not visit the UIDAI office till the time he/she is asked to visit.

Step 6: The regional office from their end will carry out an investigation to seek additional information about the particular individual.

Step 7: After the verification is completed by the regional office, a request will be sent for processing and reprocessing of the request.

  • Bank statement
  • Post office account statement /passbook
  • Ration card
  • Voter ID
  • Driving License
  • Government photo ID
  • Service photo identity card issued by PSU
  • Electricity Bill within a time limit of 3 months
  • Water bill within 3 months time period
  • Telephone Landline Bill same as 3 months
  • Property Tax Receipt not more than 12 months
