China’s previous COVID-19 rules had kept cross-border travel on hold, which had a great impact on the country’s travel and tourism industry. Now, this major easing of COVID-19 curbs is expected to bring tourism back to the country.

It’s important to note that when the rest of the world slowly and steadily opened up, China maintained a very strict stand with regards to opening its borders to international travellers. But now, looking at the shorter incubation period of the Omicron variant, the country is cautiously reopening its borders. We are now looking at an increase in the number of international flights to and from China.

Major cities, Beijing and Shanghai recently reported that there has been zero new COVID infections, making the cities a safe zone for the locals and well as travellers. Once again, eating out in these cities is a possibility. Beijing is also on its way to open some of the venues for leisure activities. Also, leisure venues like Universal Beijing Resort and Shanghai Disney Resort are all set to reopen after months of staying shut.
