Delhi’s new property tax rate: Senior citizens, women, other categories to get 30% of rebate | Details here

The new property tax structure by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) kicked into force on July 16, under which, senior citizens, women, differently-abled and ex-servicemen will get a 30% rebate in property tax on self-use property of 100 square metres located in the national capital.

Apart from this, an incentive at the rate of 2 per cent on property tax not exceeding Rs 10,000 and limited to Rs 200 will be given to the buyers, in order to promote digital payments.

The civic body has revised its tax structure to bring parity between rates following the unification of the three civic bodies.

WHO WILL GET REBATE

The MCD will give a 10 per cent rebate to housing societies whose 90 per cent of the residents will pay their property tax.

The MCD officials revealed that an additional rebate of 5 per cent in property tax will be given to group housing societies which will do 100 per cent waste segregation and composting of wet waste, along with the processing of recyclable dry waste and handing over all of it to the civic body.

Besides this, an additional rebate of 5 per cent in the form of an incentive will be extended in the way of taking up work at the recommendation of the group housing society concerned.

Similarly, an incentive of 10 per cent of the tax paid, costing around Rs 1 lakh, will be extended at the recommendation of the RWA of the colony. This incentive will be available only if the RWA concerned achieves at least 90 per cent of property tax compliance in the area under it.

The civic body revealed that an extra rebate of 5 per cent will be given if the colony implements 100 per cent waste segregation at the source, composting wet waste in the colony, recycling recyclable dry waste and handing over the remaining dry waste to the MCD or its authorised agencies.

But, if the RWA concerned is unable to recommend the work to be executed against the incentive or to identify the work against the incentive, then the MCD will transfer the incentive to the taxpayers’ accounts.

For registration of group housing societies and RWAs, they will have to provide the details like name of the society or RWA, colony, area and ward, the total number of units and list of UPIC of all units to the zonal authorities.
