EPFO Tips: Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is a social security organisation aiming to extend universal coverage by ensuring Nirbadh (Seamless and uninterrupted) service delivery to its stakeholders through state-of-the-art technology.

Whereas, Universal Account Number (UAN) is a 12-digit number allotted to all eligible employees by the EPFO that contains details of the multiple Member Ids different organisations allot to the member.

It helps the employee check their EPF balance, withdraw money and get PF loan application.

EPFO members can generate direct UAN number online. All you need is your Aadhar number and a good internet connection.

EPFO Tips: Here’s a step-by-step guide to generate direct UAN:

Step 1: Visit the EPFO portal – https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/

Step 2: Click on “Direct UAN Allotment by Employees” available on the right-hand side of the homepage

Step 3: Provide your Aadhaar linked mobile and enter captcha and click on ‘Generate OTP’

Step 4: Enter the OTP received on Aadhar linked mobile and click on ‘submit’ button

Step 5: Select ‘Yes’ for “Are you working in any private company/factory/establishment”. If No is selected, the system will redirect you to the home page

Step 6: Select the appropriate “Employment Category” from the drop-down list

Note: If “Employment Category” is selected as “In Establishment/Company/Factory” falling under EPFO, the system will prompt for PF code number otherwise the system will prompt to enter details of the establishments.

Step 7: The system will display the details for the installation. Enter the date of joining and select the “Identity Proof Type” and upload the copy of the  “Identity Proof Type” selected.

Step 8: Enter your Aadhar or Virtual ID and captcha and click on “Generate OTP”

Step 9: Enter the ‘OTP’ received on Aadhaar linked mobile and submit

Step 10: System will fetch details from UIDAI. Click on “Register” button

Step 11: UAN will be generated

Note: UAN will also be received on your mobile phone.
