International flights resume from Guwahati after two years | Details here

After a hiatus of two years because of the Covid-19 pandemic, international flight services resumed from Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on September 3.

On Saturday, the first flight by Bhutan’s national airline, Druk Air, took off from Guwahati to Singapore at 9:10 am.

FIRST FLIGHT TO SINGAPORE

Prior to lockdown, Druk Air used to operate flights from Bhutan’s Paro to Singapore with a stopover in Guwahati on both routes.

They have also resumed flights connecting Paro and Singapore on Saturday.

Taking to Twitter, Druk Air posted a glimpse of the first flight to Singapore via Guwahati.

MORE INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS

As per the reports, efforts are going on to start flights from Guwahati to Yangon (Myanmar), Kathmandu (Nepal), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Hanoi (Vietnam) and Bangkok (Thailand) within the next few months.

Earlier, a flight started between Guwahati and Dhaka under the Centre’s UDAAN scheme but was discontinued due to scarcity of traffic.

The state government is constantly working to add more international flights from Guwahati in the coming years.
