Synopsis

Referring to the latest development, the Canada Government added that the decision to end restrictions was based on Canada’s vaccination rate, availability treatments, and newer vaccines, and also as per the data that shows that the country had passed the peak of the latest wave of COVID infections.

Canada is set to remove all COVID-19 restrictions for international travellers from October 1, 2022, including masking requirements for trains and flights, and vaccination. Reports suggest that this move will likely provide a boost to the Canadian travel industry, which has already started to boom after months of dull business during the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Canadian carriers were also pushing to end the mask mandates on flights, citing numerous non-compliance incidents this year alone.
With the latest development, Canada’s second largest carrier WestJet Airlines added that it will further expedite recovery for the travel industry and the Canadian economy.

Referring to the latest development, the Canada Government added that the decision to end restrictions was based on Canada’s vaccination rate, availability treatments, and newer vaccines as well as the data that shows that the country has passed the peak of the latest wave of COVID infections.

As regarding the vaccination, more than 90% of Canadians over 12 years of age have already been vaccinated. Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos added that they have been able to take the latest steps as the citizens of the country went ahead to get vaccinated, and have now reached a point where they can safely lift the sanitary measures at the border.

Duclos, however, added that the government is prepared to reimpose restrictions if required.

Reports further add that travellers, regardless of citizenship, will no longer have to submit health information through the ArriveCAN app or provide proof of vaccination from October 1, 2022. Also, the requirement for travellers to wear masks on trains and planes would be dropped.
