WhatsApp banking: All these major banks have services available on WhatsApp for customers; check details

Almost all major banks, private and government-owned, have started offering banking services on WhatsApp for customers. WhatsApp banking is yet another chapter added to digital banking initiative. Digital banking has made life easy for bank customers across age groups, especially older citizens because it helps them easily carry out basic banking activities 24/7. Here’s how to sign up for WhatsApp banking services if you’re a customer of one of the country’s major banks, such as SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Bank of Baroda (BoB), or Axis Bank.

PNB WhatsApp banking facility

State-owned Punjab National Bank (PNB) on 3 October said it has introduced banking services through WhatsApp for both customers and non-customers. To activate the banking facility on WhatsApp, customers need to first save the official PNB’s WhatsApp number 919264092640 in their phone book and initiate a conversation (on WhatsApp) by sending a hi/hello to this number.

SBI WhatsApp banking facility

To register the bank account with SBI WhatsApp Banking Service, send SMS WAREG A/C No (917208933148) from your registered mobile number. Once the registration is complete, you will be able to use SBI’s WhatsApp service.

HDFC Bank WhatsApp banking facility

“HDFC Bank Chat Banking is a chat service on WhatsApp where all customers can simply chat with us to avail 90+ services and transactions 24×7 in a seamless manner. It is an end-to-end encrypted & secure Service Offering provided by HDFC Bank over WhatsApp. This offering shall however be available only on the mobile number registered with the bank. All you need to do is add the number 70700 22222 to your contacts and start a conversation by saying “Hi”, said HDFC Bank on its website.

There are more than 90 transactions and services accessible through HDFC Bank Chat Banking on WhatsApp.

ICICI Bank WhatsApp banking facility

For availing ICICI Bank’s WhatsApp banking facility, you need to add the number 8640086400 to your contacts and Say ‘Hi’ on 8640086400 from your registered mobile number. You can also give a missed call or SMS OPTIN to 9542000030 to start conversation by getting a secure and interactive menu on your mobile screen through WhatsApp messaging platform.

Axis Bank WhatsApp banking facility

Customers of the private sector lender Axis Bank can also use WhatsApp Banking. “Just send a Hi on 7036165000 at WhatsApp and get subscribed with Axis Bank WhatsApp Banking. On subscribing, you get access to a wide range of services ranging for products like Accounts/Cheques, Credit Cards, Term Deposits, and Loans. Non-Axis Bank Customers can access services like ‘Apply for Products’ and finding nearest ATM/Branches/Loan Centers,” the lender said on its website.

Bank of Baroda WhatsApp banking facility

“We are pleased to announce the launch of “New Digital Delivery channel – WhatsApp Banking”, said Bank of Baroda on its website. The WhatsApp Banking Service from Bank of Baroda (BoB) is accessible in Hindi and English on domestic Indian mobile numbers as well as international ones of selected countries.
