Petrol, diesel prices on October 16: Check how much fuel costs in Delhi, Mumbai, other cities

New Delhi: Petrol and diesel prices across the country continue to remain the same as state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) like Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum announced no revision in fuel prices on Sunday. Petrol and diesel prices have now remained steady for 148 days.

The OMCs update retail fuel prices every day at 6 am based on crude oil prices, foreign exchange rates, dealer commissions, and the VAT across different states.

Petrol, diesel prices in Delhi NCR

Petrol in Delhi is priced Rs 96.72 per litre and diesel at Rs 89.62 per litre, as of today. In Noida, a litre of petrol costs Rs 96.79 per litre while diesel is being sold at Rs 89.96 per litre. The petrol price in Gurugram is Rs 97.18 per litre while diesel is being sold at Rs 90.05 per litre. In Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, the current petrol price is Rs 96.58 per litre and diesel is Rs 89.75 per litre.

Petrol, diesel prices in other Indian cities

In Mumbai, a litre of petrol costs Rs 106.31 and diesel costs Rs 94.27 per litre. Petrol price in Kolkata is Rs 106.03 per litre and that of diesel is Rs 92.76 per litre. In Chennai, petrol is currently priced at Rs 102.63 and diesel at Rs 94.24 per litre. In Bengaluru, petrol costs Rs 101.94 per litre while diesel is priced at Rs 87.89.

Petrol and diesel prices in Jaipur are Rs 108.48 per litre and Rs 93.72, respectively. In Patna, a litre of petrol costs Rs 107.24 while diesel costs Rs 94.04.

Meanwhile, the Centre on Saturday increased the windfall tax or Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) on the production of crude petroleum from Rs 8,000 per tonne to Rs 11,000 per tonne with effect from October 16. The Centre also increased the SAED on the export of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) to Rs 3.50 per litre from nil in the last review. Similarly, the windfall tax on the export of diesel has been increased from Rs 5 per litre to Rs 10.50 per litre.
