Stocks to buy today, October 17: BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty are likely to start in red on Monday as SGX Nifty – which is traded on the Singapore stock exchange – traded 130 points or 0.76 lower at 17083 at 8:15 am. Asia-Pacific markets too opened in as recession fears weigh in over expectations of continued tightening monetary policies around the world.
While Japan’s Nikkei 225 was down by over 333 points or 1.24 per cent, South Korea’s Kospi fell over points or 0.24 per cent at 7:30 am. The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong too traded in red and was down by over 95 points or 0.58 per cent.

Earlier on Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 403.89 points or 1.34 per cent to 29,634.83, the S&P 500 lost 86.84 points or 2.37 per cent to 3,583.07 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 327.76 points, or 3.08 per cent, to 10,321.39.
