Ola Electric has extended the Rs 10,000 discount on its flagship Ola S1 Pro electric scooter till the end of 2022. The announcement was made by the company’s founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal at the launch of the new Ola S1 Air electric scooter. Following the Rs 10,000 discount, the Ola S1 Pro price comes out to be Rs 1,29,999 (ex-showroom).
The Ola S1 Pro electric scooter gets an 8.5kW motor and a 4kWh battery. It can accelerate from 0-40kmph in 2.9 seconds and 0-60kmph in 4.5 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 116kmph. Although the ARAI-certified range for the electric scooter is 181km, Ola Electric says that its true range is nearly 170km. The S1 Pro takes six hours and 30 minutes to achieve a full charge.
According to data from the industry body Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), the retail sales of electric two-wheelers stood at 49,189 units in April, 39,520 units in May, 42,303 units in June, 44,614 units in July, 50,506 units sold in August, and 51,784 units in September.
In September, Ola Electric was the largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer retailing 9,649 units, followed by Okinawa at 8,280 units and Hero Electric at 8,019 units.
The all-new Ola S1 Air is priced at Rs 84,999 (ex-showroom). It gets a hub motor (nominal power of 2.7kW and peak power of 4.5kW) and a 2.5kWh battery. The new model has a top speed of 90kmph and can accelerate from 0-40kmph in 4.3 seconds and 0-60kmph in 9.8 seconds. The electric scooter has an ARAI-certified range of 101km but the true range is 76km only. The battery can be fully charged in 4.5 hours through a home charging unit.
Ola Electric is also developing a new electric car, which the company claims will have a range of more than 500km and will be launched in 2024. The Ola electric car’s 0-100kmph acceleration time will be less than four seconds. It will not have any keys or handles, and the roof will be made of glass.
