Delhi govt launches updated ‘One Delhi’ app for frequent travellers | All you need to know

The Delhi government on Wednesday, November 2, launched the revamped version of the ‘One Delhi’ application. It is an all-in-one mobile app to navigate public transportation in Delhi and will be useful for frequent travellers. The app is available on both Android and iOS devices.

The ‘One Delhi’ app was envisioned nearly two years ago to be an all-inclusive platform to address many challenges of accessing the public transport system in Delhi. In particular, it provides reliable and convenient bus services for people.

The major reasons people do not take a bus are the lack of knowledge about bus routes and buses not adhering to the schedule due to traffic jams. It leads to unreliability as commuters plan their travel, unlike metro services which are available at good frequency.

The Delhi government’s primary objective has been to make bus services more reliable through the ‘One Delhi’ app, by providing features like live tracking of over 7,300 buses and finding the exact waiting time of the buses at the bus stop.

In addition, the information on bus routes helps people plan their journey in a reliable manner. The mobile app has been developed by the Delhi government in collaboration with the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Delhi.

SALIENT FEATURES OF THE ‘ONE DELHI APP’

Bus routes and bus stop information: Commuters can search for live information regarding buses on over 500 bus routes in Delhi and the bus stops nearest to them. They can also know the arrival time of the buses at any stop on a real-time basis.

Online tickets: Buy e-ticket(s) or daily pass(es) from the comfort of your seat and get a 10% discount on online bus tickets. Women passengers can buy free pink tickets through the app.

Find electric vehicle charging & battery swapping station: Those using electric vehicles can get information on over 2,200 charging points in Delhi at your fingertips. People can locate nearby charging points, and find real-time availability and cost per unit for using electric vehicle chargers.

Feedback/Grievance portal: Travellers can raise any complaints regarding buses, be it related to drivers, conductors, marshalls, cleanliness of the bus, speeding or bus queue shelters, and EV chargers through the One Delhi app.

Delhi government’s plan with the One Delhi app is to enable services under Multimodal transportation in the city. It will be the one-stop platform to book a bus, taxi, auto or cycle with an ease of a single click.
