RJD supremo Lalu Yadav off to Singapore for kidney transplant

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has left for Singapore, accompanied by his younger son Tejashwi Yadav and his other family members, for a kidney transplant. The 74-year-old returned last month from Singapore where he had gone for treatment of his kidney problems.

He will tentatively undergo an operation for a kidney transplant in the first week of December after initial check-up and tests. Talking to reporters, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said, “We have full faith that the operation will be successful and his well-wishers have prayed for his speedy recovery.”

When asked about the BJP’s allegations that senior RJD leaders are not being given due respect in the party, the Bihar deputy chief minister quipped, “Like Advani Ji?”

Yadav, who is out on bail, has been jailed for his involvement in fodder cases and has been hospitalised several times in Delhi and Ranchi for treatment. He suffers from multiple ailments, including diabetes, blood pressure and kidney issues.

Ailing RJD patriarch Lalu Yadav’s Singapore-based daughter Rohini Acharya will donate a kidney to her father. Earlier in November, Rohini Acharya, on a social media post, made it clear that she would be donating one of her kidneys to her father.

In a long post, Rohini had written that she was merely giving a small piece of flesh to her father. “I can do anything for Papa. Kindly pray that everything goes well and papa once again raises your voice,” wrote Rohini.

Meanwhile, a Delhi court has allowed Misa Bharti, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav, to travel to Singapore for his kidney transplant. The application submitted added the surgery will take place on December 5.
