Google Photos is one of the best services provided by Google. It shares space for photos and stores them in a secure place. When users want to save sensitive data like photos and videos in a folder. These contents can be protected through the device screen lock in the Google photos application.
The data in the locked folder won’t be visible in the form of a photo grid, memories, searches, or albums. It won’t be available in other apps on your device that have access to photos and videos. It is secured in a proper place that is only accessible to the user.
The feature is available for android apps with a version higher than Android 6. The user having access to the device screen lock can unlock the Locked Folder. The items available in the locked folder are saved to the user’s device and can’t be moved to other devices during cable or cloud data transfers. Further, if the user wants to uninstall the app or clear the Photos app data, they will lose all items in the Locked Folder.
Steps to hide your sensitive photos and videos on Google Photos:
SET UP A LOCKED FOLDER:
Step 1: Go to the Google Photos app.
Step 2: Select Library and visit the ‘Utilities’ option in the Locked Folder.
Step 3: Now set up the Locked Folder.
Step 4: Follow the onscreen instructions to unlock the device.
Step 5: If you don’t have a screen lock, then you should have one to use the Locked Folder.
Note: It is possible if you want to move photos and videos to the Locked Folder for the first time, you will be asked to set it up.
STEPS TO MOVE PHOTOS OR VIDEOS TO A LOCKED FOLDER:
Step 1: Choose the photos and videos you want to have in the Locked Folder.
Step 2: At the top right corner of the screen, click on the three vertical dots.
Step 3: Next move to the Locked Folder.
Step 4: Finally, tap on the Move icon.
Note: Cloud backs get deleted. For moving photos and videos from the Trash to the Locked Folder, individuals need to restore the content from the Trash.
