How to send high quality pictures on WhatsApp? Step-by-step guide

The new WhatsApp feature will also let users share images in a compressed format if they want to save data.

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps and we frequently use this platform to exchange images with family and friends. However, the picture quality gets compressed while doing so, forcing WhatsApp users to look for some alternative. But the Meta-owned app has now rolled out the much-awaited ‘Photo Quality’ feature, allowing users to share images in the best quality.

The feature will also let users share images in a compressed format if they want to save data. The feature is available to selected users and WhatsApp has said that it will be available to all in the coming days.

How to send original-size pictures on WhatsApp on Android phones

Step 1: Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.

Step 2: Settings option can be selected by tapping on three dots in the top right corner

Step 3: Scroll down to Storage and Data 

Step 4: Tap ‘Media Upload Quality’ 

Step 5: You will three options to selection –  Auto, Best Quality, or Data Saver

As the names suggest, ‘Data Saver’ will send compressed images and save your internet data. On the other hand, ‘Best Quality’ will help you send the image without compressing it. Notably, users can change their preferences at any time by simply going to the ‘Settings’ options.

How to send original quality images on WhatsApp on iPhone

Step 1: Open WhatsApp and tap on the ‘Settings’ icon. 

Step 2: Tap on Storage and Data

Step 3: Scroll down to tap on ‘Media Upload Quality’

Step 4: You will get the same options –  Auto, Best Quality or Data Saver.
