How to use Jio 5G

Jio has earlier assured that to use the new 5G network, users will not have to buy a new 5G sim. Instead, the existing 4G SIM will automatically connect to the 5G once the network is available in the area.  However, to get a Jio 5G one must ensure that they are using a 5G compatible smartphone that has received the software update to support Jio’s standalone 5G network.

To check for the available software update go to the device’s Settings> About Device> Software Update and download the latest update if available.

Further, it is to be noted that  Jio is extending its 5G services to select users on an invitation-only basis. So only the users who have received the Jio 5G Welcome offer are eligible to use the new fifth generation network connectivity offered by Jio.

Jio Welcome Offer

Under the Jio Welcome offer, the telecom operator is offering unlimited internet data at up to 1Gbps speed on the current 4G data pack. In order to receive the Jio 5G Welcome offer make sure you have an active recharge of Rs 239 or higher on your prepaid or postpaid SIM connection.

You can check whether you’ve received an invitation for Jio 5G on My Jio app. The telecom operator will also notify you about the same through SMS, WhatsApp, or on the My Jio app.
