2023 Honda City facelift launch in India on March 2

Honda Cars India will launch the 2023 Honda City facelift in the country on March 2, according to sources. The updated mid-size sedan will rival the 2023 Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

The 2023 City will get two engine options. There will be a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine with 6-speed MT and CVT automatic choices. Also on offer will be a 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine with a strong hybrid system, mated to an e-CVT.

Honda will axe the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, which was earlier offered with the car. The company will not upgrade this engine to meet the upcoming real driving emission (RDE) norms.

Talking about the variants, while the City earlier had three — V, VX and ZX — the 2023 Honda City facelift will get a new entry-level variant — SV. A new V variant will also be added to the City hybrid, which earlier came in a single fully-loaded ZX variant.

So the 2023 City facelift petrol will have SV, V, VX and ZX variants, and the 2023 City facelift hybrid will have V and ZX variants.

When it comes to styling updates, there are not many in the new City. The front and rear bumpers have been tweaked a bit. The front grille has been redone, while the chrome slat is sleeker now. The rear reflectors have been moved slightly down and are now placed horizontally.

What remains the same is the LED headlamp unit with nine LED inline shells and integrated LED DRLs, the Z-shaped 3D wrap-around LED taillamp unit and the 16-inch alloy wheels.

The cabin more or less is unchanged. Updates here include new ambient lighting, fresh upholstery and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The 2023 Honda City facelift price for the petrol line-up might be between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). The hybrid range is expected to sit in the price range of Rs 17.50 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
