PAN-Aadhaar Link: List of People EXEMPTED From This Process

PAN-Aadhaar Linking: Your Permanent Account Number (PAN) will become inoperative from March 31, 2023, if it is not linked to your Aadhaar. “As per Income-tax Act, 1961, it is mandatory for all PAN holders, who do not fall under the exempt category, to link their PAN with their Aadhaar before 31.3.2023. From 1.04.2023, the unlinked PAN shall become inoperative,” the Income Tax department said in a recent tweet. However, there are still some exemptions to this rule as notified by the Centre.

PAN-Aadhaar Linking: List of People Who Do Not Require This

As per a notification issued by Union Finance Ministry in May 2017, these 4 categories are exempted from PAN-Aadhaar linking.

  • Residents of Assam, Meghalaya and Jammu and Kashmir
  • A non-resident as per the Income-tax Act, 1961;
  • Of the age of eighty years or more at any time during the previous year
  • Not a citizen of India.

PAN-Aadhaar Linking: A Step-by-Step Guide

  • Go to the official website of the e-fling Income Tax Department.
  • Go to the “Link Aadhaar” section.
  • Enter your PAN number
  • Enter your Aadhaar number
  • Enter your name which is there on Aadhaar
  • Click “I have only year of birth on Aadhaar Card”
  • Click “I agree to validate my Aadhaar details with UIDAI”
  • Fill in the captcha code
  • Enter link Aadhaar option

PAN-Aadhaar Linking Via SMS

●Send an SMS message with the subject UIDPAN 12 digit Aadhaar> 10 digit PAN>.

● Send the SMS to 567678 or 56161 using your registered mobile number.

PAN-Aadhaar Linking: Offline Method

● Visit the NSDL office.

●Ask for the relevant application form from the officials.

● Enter the necessary information and attach supporting documents while submitting it.

●Your Aadhaar and PAN cards will be linked after the verification.

  • Visit the official website of the Income Tax Department i.e. to www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
  • click on the link Aadhaar option at the extreme left side of the website.
  • Enter your Aadhaar card and PAN Card credentials which include user ID, password, date of birth and captcha code.
  • If both your documents (Aadhaar and PAN) are linked then the display on the page will mention the same.
