Amid the rising cases of Covid-19 in India, the Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday made Covid tests mandatory for anyone returning to the country from abroad. Instructions were also given to perform genome sequencing on the samples which tested positive for the virus.

The state government’s mandate came as India recorded 6,155 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours.
